Thanks to audiobooks, anyone can "read" something while he is driving or if he has sight related problems. Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks to audiobooks. The files can be too large, or their quality may be affected by unnecessary silent moments and long pauses. These issues can be solved with an audio editor, but it takes time, patience and some precision to be successful. Audiobook Cutter Pro offers a much easier way. It will detect silent periods and eliminate them, reduce the size of the file, merge multiple audiobooks and more. All you have to do is make a few simple adjustments and the program will do the rest.

The software will run without any issues on Windows XP, Vista or Win 7. The setup process involves standard steps like selecting shortcuts and a destination path. Due to its low system requirements, you can run the program even on computers with low end hardware.

Advanced knowledge is not required when using Audiobook Cutter Pro. Its options are organized under separate tabs and you may go through them in a logical manner. First, you need to load one or more audiobooks, under the first tab. Either click the Add button on the toolbar and browse for them or drag and drop the files over the interface.

The main splitting options can be found under the second tab. You only need to make use of sliders or check boxes to set a track length, noise level and duration or insert additional silence before and after a split. Alternatively, you can select a preset by clicking one of the radio buttons, on the upper area of the interface (under the same tab). The adjustments will be made automatically if you select a preset such as Audiobook, Podcast, time based or pause based split. Depending on which one you choose, the software will split audio files at each pause it detects or perform exact splits, without silence detection.

Audiobook Cutter Pro makes it possible to create ID3 Tags as well. The third navigation tab contains options for changing an audiobook's name or generating one from the audio file's name, selecting a track number format, generating an album name from the file's title and more. When everything seems to be in order, you have to click a toolbar option and specify an output path in a separate window.

In a few seconds, the software will cut the audio file according to your settings and it will place it in a new folder. There is no re-encoding involved, so the quality of the audio files will stay the same. Before cutting them, you can opt to merge the audiobooks into one file or process them separately. This requires clicking a check box, under the Options tab.

Pros

There is no sound wave you will need to interact with. Cutting silent periods from audiobooks is an automated process and the program is capable of working with large MP3 files. It is fast, precise and very easy to use. Although there is a free version available, the PRO edition is not expensive and it comes with free lifetime updates.

Cons

Audiobook Cutter Pro supports only MP3 files. Your audiobooks will sound better, thanks to Audiobook Cutter Pro's features. Due to its straightforward design, it will take only a few seconds to process multiple files in one run.
